Property Safety Measures (OWNER)
As a property owner, we prioritize your safety and peace of mind during your stay. Here are the key safety features we have in place:
Gated Entrance with Secure Access: The property is accessed through a gated entrance equipped with a combination lock. The combination is changed frequently to ensure security and limit unauthorized access.
Limited Vehicle Access: We have restricted vehicle access throughout the property to protect both the natural environment and our guests. This controlled access helps maintain privacy and reduces the risk of unwanted visitors.
Cameras at Entrance Gate: For added security, we have surveillance cameras positioned at the only entrance gate. This gate is strategically located between culvert bridges of a creek and stormwater run off channel, making it the single point of entry to the property. The cameras help monitor and record any activity at this entrance, ensuring that we can track who comes and goes.
Ensuring Your Own Safety (GUEST)
While we have taken steps to secure the property, campers can also take personal measures to enhance their safety:
Keep the Gate Locked: Always ensure the gate is locked behind you when entering or leaving the property. This helps maintain the security of the entire area.
Be Aware of Your Surroundings: Familiarize yourself with the property layout, including the location of the entrance, trails, and camping spots. Knowing your environment will help you navigate safely and avoid any natural hazards.
Stay Connected: If possible, have a charged mobile phone or other communication device with you at all times. Let someone outside the property know your plans and expected return time.
Respect the Natural Environment: The property includes natural features such as creeks, trails, and wooded areas. Exercise caution when exploring, especially near water or on uneven terrain.
Follow the Property Rules: Adhering to the property guidelines not only ensures your safety but also helps maintain the security and enjoyment of all guests.
By combining these safety measures with our property’s security features, we aim to provide a safe and secure environment for you to enjoy your camping experience.
BOOKING AGENT SAFETY (HIPCAMP)
Hipcamp, a platform that connects campers with unique camping experiences on private lands, has a series of measures in place to vet campers to ensure safety, security, and overall well-being for both the campers and hosts. Here’s how the process generally works:
- Account Creation: Campers must create a Hipcamp account to book a stay. This includes providing personal details, a valid email address, and sometimes connecting social media accounts for additional verification.
- ID Verification: Hipcamp may require identity verification through government-issued IDs. This step helps ensure that the person booking the site is who they claim to be, adding a layer of security.
- Review System: After each stay, both campers and hosts have the opportunity to leave reviews. These reviews help build a reputation system where future hosts can assess a camper’s behavior and reliability.
- Ratings: Campers receive ratings based on their conduct during their stay. Consistently high ratings indicate that a camper is respectful and follows the rules, while poor ratings can serve as a red flag for hosts.
- Host Guidelines: Hosts can set specific requirements for bookings, such as age restrictions, group sizes, or even pet policies. This allows hosts to select campers who fit their desired criteria.
- Communication Before Booking: Many hosts use Hipcamp’s messaging system to communicate with campers before confirming a booking. This allows the host to gauge the camper’s intentions, ask any necessary questions, and provide important information about the site.
- Emergency Contacts: Hipcamp often requires campers to provide emergency contact information, ensuring there’s a way to reach someone if needed.
- Insurance: Hipcamp provides liability insurance for hosts, covering certain incidents that might occur on the property. Campers are also encouraged to have personal insurance that covers outdoor activities.
- Right to Refuse: Hosts have the discretion to refuse bookings if they feel uncomfortable with a potential camper or if the camper’s profile raises concerns.
- Cancellation Policies: Hosts can set their own cancellation policies, allowing them to cancel a booking if they feel that the camper’s stay could pose a risk to the property or other guests.
- Support System: Hipcamp has a customer support team available to address issues or concerns from both campers and hosts. If any problems arise during the stay, Hipcamp can mediate and help resolve conflicts.
- Incident Reporting: Both hosts and campers can report any incidents or inappropriate behavior to Hipcamp. Serious violations can lead to a camper being banned from the platform.
- Behavior Tracking: Hipcamp continually monitors user behavior on the platform. Suspicious activities, such as last-minute cancellations or consistently poor reviews, can trigger further scrutiny and, if necessary, action from Hipcamp to protect the community.
Through these vetting processes, Hipcamp aims to create a safe, secure, and enjoyable experience for both campers and hosts, ensuring that everyone involved can enjoy the great outdoors with peace of mind.
